One Special Day Is Back For 2019

One Special Day

One Special Day, one of the video games industry’s biggest fundraising drives is back for another year on 4 October 2019.

Since its inception in 2016 One Special day has been a day full of gaming and giving, all in aid of a fantastic cause. Massive names such as Sega, Codemasters, Jagex, and Zynga will join the fifty-plus partners involved in this year’s event to make a little noise, and cash. While many of these gaming businesses will run some great events, like this year’s Chicken For Charity PUBG event, many will also donate their entire day’s profits. Form DLC to microtransactions it’s the one time we can’t complain about pay to win.

Special Effect

All of this action is geared towards supporting the work of the Special Effect organization. For years Special Effect has helped gamers overcome the barriers to access that they face. From specially modified controllers to eye-tracking systems, they utilize technology to allow players to log into worlds in a format that they can control. It isn’t about helping people to escape either, the social impact of gaming and the powers of joy can be immeasurably helpful to people logging back into the games they love.

Despite getting ready to gnome over to Runescape’s upcoming Runefest event, Rich Eddy, Director of Communications at Jagex, added

“Our RuneScape community has celebrated SpecialEffect’s incredible work for many years, so there was no question that Jagex would be a proud supporter of this year’s event and play a big part in One Special Day. By putting the fun and inclusion back into the lives of those with physical disabilities to play video games, the work of SpecialEffect really levels the playing field”.

With such a great cause, I’m sure that One Special Day will be a huge success in 2019. If you want to get involved or find out more about Special Effect, you can check out the official website for the event and the charity it supports.
