Details on the upcoming Quare Enix action-RPG Oninaki have been shrouded in secrecy since its announcement back in Feb 2019. Now, we find out a little more about the characters that will join players on this adventure with a new trailer.
Developed by Tokyo RPG Factory, the Square Enix studio responsible for recent I Am Setsuna and Lost Sphear titles, Oninaki is a tale of life, loss, blood, and death. As a young Watcher, the game’s protagonist is tasked with guiding lost souls into the beyond and watching over the world of the living. After a chance encounter with a mysterious girl named Linne, his fate changes forever. With no memory of her past and a malicious Night Devil on her tail, it is up to you to keep order in the world.
The trailer, which you can check out above, introduces several of the characters you will encounter, including the Night Devil out to hunt Linne. You will also catch glimpses of Kushi, an exemplary Watcher and trusted leader and Mayura, a Watcher with a kind heart. Little is known outside of the trailer and we’ve yet to find out much more about each of these characters but the trailer gives us a glimpse of a gorgeous ethereal world and a cast that all have their very own playstyle.
