Outriders, the exciting new RPG-shooter from Square Enix is set to shoot onto PC and consoles on 2 February 2021.
If you are busying yourself between now and the first opportunity to stare down the eyesight of an awesome looking RPG adventure then Outrider is nearly here. Square Enix, the same publisher behind Final Fantasy, is set to take a new twist on the RPG genre. Seeming familiar to what we expected from Anthem, Outriders take the traditional RPG scenario and pumps it out the barrel of some seriously experienced studios. Developed by People Can Fly, the developers of Gears of War: Judgment and BULLETSTORM, and Square Enix External Studios, the minds behind Sleeping Dogs and Just Cause, Outriders is a co-op drop in drop out shooter where players are plunged into a dark and desperate future. As mankind bleeds out in the trenches of Enoch, you’ll create your very own Outrider and head out on an adventure across this hostile planet.
Outrider seriously impressed when it debuted a teaser back in early 2020 and subsequent slick gameplay trailers continue to keep us poised for this upcoming RPG. Mixing intense shooter combat with a layered narrative, anybody brave enough to head out of the First City to traverse forests, mountains and desert in the pursuit of a mysterious signal will wield some serious firepower. You’ll scavenge whatever you can while updating your character, based on a range of skill trees to build a character that might just survive what awaits.
While 2 February isn’t quite tomorrow, it seems that the development team behind Outriders are set on making sure the game lives up to expectations.
“We’re taking a little bit longer to ensure players have the best possible experience with OUTRIDERS, we’re also including new features like Cross-Play which will make our game much more accessible on all platforms,” added Lee Singleton, Co-Head of Studio at Square Enix External Studios.
Outriders will explode onto PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Stadia with full cross-platform compatibility enabled, meaning everyone is a viable target. Players who purchase Outriders on current-gen consoles will be able to upgrade from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 for free. Players can also upgrade from Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S for free with Smart Delivery.
