With the recent announcement that Blizzard’s colorful co-op shooter Overwatch is coming to Nintendo Switch in the near future, the company now stands in front of a serious issue of crossplay.
The problem might sound easy but there are a lot of issues to tackle such as an advantage a PC player with keyboard + mouse set up would have over somebody with Switch. In a message to Endgadget, Blizzard’s J. Allen Brack said the following:
“We’ve seen how compelling cross-system play can be for our community, and we’re excited about the potential. There’s still a lot of work to do on both our side and the platforms’ side to determine whether this is something that makes sense for Overwatch, and we’re keeping an eye on how cross-play systems and technology develop.”
Overwatch Legendary Edition comes to Nintendo Switch October 15, 2019. Play Blizzard Entertainment’s acclaimed team-based shooter at home or on the go with Overwatch Legendary Edition, which comes complete with all of the latest heroes, maps, and game updates—along with a new Switch-exclusive control option that takes advantage of the console’s unique capabilities.
You can already pre-purchase the game through Nintendo eShop for $39.99. Are you prepared to push the payload?
