Switch Version of Paladins Comes June 12 With XBox One Cross-Play

Hi-Rez Studios has announced that the team-based shooter Paladins is coming to the Nintendo Switch starting June 12 with a $30 Founder’s Pack. A free-to-play version will be available sometime in the summer as well. The Switch version of Paladins will have cross-play capabilities with the Xbox One console but not with PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, Sony’s policies on cross-play don’t allow for full convergence.

Paladins only entered early access in September 2016 for PC, its official release was just on May 8th. This hero shooter is similar in many respects to Overwatch and has been able to find its own footing with around 25 million players across PS4, Xbox One, and PC. This has to do mainly with the free-to-play nature of the game.

With the introduction of the Nintendo Switch version of Paladins and the cross-play feature, this will help to expand the main audience of the game. The Switch has been an outstanding console since it was release in March 2017, and Paladins will help gamers get even more into the console.

Even with the lack of power that the Xbox One and PS4 has, Hi-Rez Studios promises that Paladins will run at 60 fps on this console in both docked and handheld modes. They credit this to their custom in-house port of Unreal Engine 3. If you purchase the Founders Pack you will immediately have access to all 36 Champions in the game as well as all future characters.
