Philips pulled back the curtain on their new line of extra immersive monitors this morning. The latest entry in their M-Line series of high quality displays is the first to include what the company calls “Ambiglow.” Using an onboard processor, the monitor intelligently interprets the color space of the image being displayed and extends the screen using reactive backlight technology. Ambiglow isn’t the first technology to achieve such edge extension, but it is the first time we’re seeing a major manufacturer include it as a built in feature.
The 326M6FJSB – try to say that three times fast – features an IPS panel in its 32-inch 1440p display. Color reproduction should be excellent, but such panels often suffer from input lag and are typically favored by graphic artists and content creators. With Ambiglow so clearly designed for media consumption, Philips seeks to address this with an impressive 5ms response time and a new SmartImage Game Mode. This new mode comes with a number of presets that will intelligently adapt color and response time to match a given genre. Gamers can also set their own personal presets and save up to two at any given time.
The 326M6FJSB is available now for an MSRP of $379.99. If you act fast, you might be able to nab a sale at Micro Center where the display is on sale for a lot $299.
