Developer PlatinumGames is about to party across 2025 with ongoing events to celebrate the Bayonetta 15th Anniversary

Leaping onto screens back in January 2010, Bayonetta mixed a unique protagonist, slick graphics, and incredible combat to make it a cult classic across PC and consoles. Now developer Platinum games is set to celebrate 15 years of outlandish action combat with a year of events. The team behind the likes of Nier Automata took to social media and the official website to announce that a full 12 months of activity.

Labelling 2025 the “Bayonetta 15th Anniversary Year” the official nod to the landmark birthday dropped the news and thanks fans for continuing to keep the witchy warrior relevant. While we don’t know what’s coming across the next year, we do know that more information will come across social channels. The first inkling that Platinum might mark the occasion came when a commemorative music box launched back in November 2024. Brought to life thanks to Wayo Records, this limited release is inspired by the original design of Bayonetta’s Super Mirror and plays the melody, Mysterious Destiny.

Bayonetta is a stylish hack-and-slash video game that follows the story of the titular character, a powerful witch with exceptional combat skills. Developed by PlatinumGames and directed by Hideki Kamiya, the game got a global release during January 2010, across PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. It follows the central character on a quest to uncover her mysterious past. Bayonetta spends much of this story battling powerful angelic forces thanks to over the top and some utterly stunning combat mechanics. After gaining critical acclaim, it followed up with a range of sequels and spin off title. Now fans can grab it and relive the action across a range of platforms and celebrate the Bayonetta 15th Anniversary during 2025.
