Authors Terry Pratchett, Robert Jordan’s’ Beloved Worlds Headed to Small Screen

TERRY PRATCHETT - DISCWORLD

We have seen many of our favorite, beloved book titles hitting the silver screen, but what could be better than seeing your favorite books by some of the most renowned authors developed into their own episodic series? Deadline reports that Amazon, after confirming the rights to a Lord of the Rings TV series, has gone on to acquire several other prolific titles.  Robert Jordans Wheel of Time series along with Terry Pratchett’s Discworld and Stephen Kings The Dark Tower will all be making their way onto Amazons growing platform.

This isn’t the first time we’ll be seeing the likes of Ankh-Morpork and The Dark Tower on film. Pratchett’s Discworld has had several adaptions created over a decade, the most recent one, Going Postal, aired in 2010. The latest adaption delving into the Discworld franchise will be following the vigilant City Watch, though no direct plot has been outlined just yet.  The Dark Tower was made into a major motion picture in 2017 featuring Idris Elba who played the last gunslinger, as he battles the Man in Black with the fate of the Universe at stake. How the series compares, or whether it will follow the books at all are yet to be seen.

Robert Jordans Wheel of Time series has yet to meet any theatrical adaptions, with several slated to appear over the past decade but having never materialized.  Will we see an epic story, progressing through Jordan’s 14 novels or will we see multiple novels progress in the entirety of a single season?  Fans of the Wheel of Time series should be delighted to finally see such a treasured series arrive on the small screen at long last.

Let us know what you’re looking forward to in the comments! Are there other book adaptions you’re hoping to see soon?
