PUBG Corp. has announced that it has sold over 70 million copies of the game in the three years since it launched. This includes PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 versions of the game but it’s important to note that the count does not include the mobile version of the game that is also wildly popular. Interestingly, the game is available on the Xbox Game Pass and it was gifted to Stadia members. It remains unclear whether or not those numbers are included in the 70 million.
To celebrate the milestone, developers have announced a remaster of one of the original PUBG maps, Sanhok. Players who want to check out an early version of the map can do so when the 8.1 update lands on test servers later today. The map has been retooled to feel “more like a forgotten, overgrown paradise while addressing some of the most glaring balance issues”. Devs are also planning a few new surprises for players including improvements to Jerry Cans, confiscated weapons, and the new ranked Season 8 with its Season Pass.
It appears that the newly updated Sanhok map and Season 8 will drop into the game on July 22nd for PC on Steam and on July 30th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Stadia.
