PUBG: New State Vaults the Series into the Future

Krafton Inc. has announced the future of the PUBG series with the revelation of PUBG: New State for mobile devices. Players will step foot into an adventure that will propel them years beyond the setting of the original game. New State is being developed natively for iOS and Android devices, though it remains unclear if it will make its way to other platforms. The planned release window is 2021.

The development team has plans to take the lessons learned from PUBG Mobile and apply them to New State. This includes graphical and quality of life improvements as well as an emphasis on the game being “easy to learn, but hard to master”.

Other things coming to New State include:

  • a heavy emphasis on weapon customization that includes different attachments and firing modes
  • the combat roll ability
  • 8×8 maps
  • brand new maps such as TROI that will provide hints as to what has transpired storywise since the original PUBG Mobile game

Executive Producer MinKyu Park said, “Given the fan support and massive success of the previous games, it is humbling to be able to build and introduce the next game in the franchise that revolutionized the battle royale genre worldwide. We want to build on that legacy by creating an experience that pushes the limits of mobile gaming. Watching our team come together to develop a global product has been an amazing experience and we are confident that it will speak to all audiences when it launches later this year.”
