Railroads Online is celebrating its second anniversary! To celebrate this special occasion, developer Stefan Kelnberger and publisher astragon Entertainment are releasing a free update with some major new content. A new map, a new locomotive and more await players in-game. Check out the trailer above to see some of the new content in action!
The Anniversary Update is the first of many free updates yet to come. To prepare players for further content expansions, the developers have shared a detailed roadmap containing additional information.
“Fans of Railroads Online can look forward to more content on the railway simulation’s birthday. A new map called Lake Valley will be added as an open sandbox game world. The map, which is also inspired by North American landscapes, features iconic mountains and a large lake in the middle of the map, which will have a major influence on the construction of your own railway network.
With additional areas such as swampland and desert, new trees and other environmental details, Lake Valley is both diverse and challenging. Buildings can also be placed in the game world, and the update adds a church and a small train station. Another major change is that industrial buildings for the production chain can now be placed by the host. This gives players even more freedom to design their own world. Additionally, the Lima Locomotive enters the game.”
