Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam for PC tomorrow, and Skybound Games has revealed a shiny new trailer ahead of the launch date. Leaping past the drudgery of doom-laden gore fests and zombie horrors, Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan is a bright, upbeat 2.5D cartoon caper that mixes platforming and RPG elements. Focused on making friends and collaborative approaches to problem-solving, this tale asks players to jump, bounce, and bring back color to a grey land.
This upcoming family-friendly adventure might look a little like an extra-dimensional Cuphead or come across with the upbeat attitude of Steven Universe but it’s certainly got its very own personality. Playing as the eponymous Rainbow Billy, Skybound’s game tells a universal coming of age story about dealing with changes in the world and accepting ourselves and the others around us! Players will explore a massive world, from the dark caverns on secret islands to hidden coves off in the stormy seas. Treasure awaits on the not so high seas, as well as plenty of challenges to overcome.
Along the way, you’ll have 60 strange, lovable creatures to help, solving each of their own problems in a non violent way. You’ll build trust and relationships to overcome issues in this epic quest, rather than restocking an arsenal of weapons. The focus on inclusiveness even includes work to make the title easier to color blind and less dexterous players to engage with. You can find out about some of the work done on developer Alexis’ Twitter thread.
If you’re looking for a change to the shoot first and shoot second approach to adventuring then Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan comes to PC and Console tomorrow at around $29.99 or local equivalent. Check out more on the official Steam Store page now.
