It’s a blast from the past in the coming days in Call of Duty thanks to the arrival of an action-hero 80s event. Both CoD Black Ops Cold War and Warzone will receive visits from Rambo and John McClane and players can even explore the iconic Nakatomi Plaza straight out of the Die Hard series of films. The event will kick off later today and players will be able to secure a number of groovy 80s themed items including new weapons, calling cards, a finishing move, a watch, and a Charm. Each of these packs will be available from now through June 19th.
Other activities during the Die Hard portion of themed event will see players heading to the top of the tallest building in Nakatomi Plaza to disable C4 on the roof and to disrupt an arms deal going down inside the building. Sound familiar? It should! Players will also be able to open the vault by discovering keys.
Rambo fans will also be able to discover 10 survival camps that hearken back to the film series. In addition, there are some dog tags hidden on the map and finding them provides a unique opportunity for players to call down air support.
The Call of Duty site has been updated with a new developer blog post:
One is John McClane, a New York cop who arrives at a holiday party turned hostage situation. He’s the hero of the Die Hard films, one of the most iconic action movie series of all time.
The other is Rambo, a man double-crossed while on a clandestine mission and left to fight on his own in Rambo: First Blood Part II, which continued to inspire countless action movies since its release in 1985.
With these two ’80s Action Heroes appearing across all three games, anything is possible in Call of Duty, but one thing is for certain:
Some heroes die hard.
Others draw first blood.
Check it out!
