Red Dead Online Standalone Version Announced

Rockstar has some fantastic news for cowpokes lookin’ for some rootin’ tootin’ action against and in cooperation with others. Developers have announced that Red Dead Online will be separated from the single-player game (Red Dead Redemption 2) and will be sold as a separate entity starting December 1st. Players will be able to purchase a copy of RDO for $4.99 from now through February 15, 2021 via the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Launcher, Epic Games Store, and Steam. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will also be playable via backward compatibility on PS5 and XBSX/S.

RDO is a fully-featured online experience for budding cowpokes and includes a number of great features including:

  • Specialist Roles – Bounty Hunter, Naturalist, Trader, Collector, and Moonshiner
  • co-op missions for 2-4 players
  • competitive game modes including Showdown
  • Free Roam Events
  • Daily Challenges

RDO will be available as a standalone game starting December 1st and will require 123GB of HD space. Learn more about the game by visiting the Red Dead Online official site.

Developers also announced some great news for Bounty Hunters: Their role will be expanding to include new criminals to track down that unlock Prestigious level equipment and skills as well as ten more Bounty Hunter Ranks. Players will also be able to track down new Legendary Bounties and work their way through a 100 Rank Outlaw Pass.

Players also have a couple of ways to get some extra RDO$ and XP:

  • double XP for A Land of Opportunity missions.
  • Bounty Hunter missions yield double XP

There are some sweet discounts in the Wheeler, Rawson, and Co. Catalogue as well as some Prime Gaming rewards to collect.
