Respawn Explains Why Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Protagonist is a Man

In an interview with GameInformer, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order game director Stig Asmussen answered some lingering questions about the upcoming action RPG. A couple of questions were related to the identity of the game’s protagonist, in particular, his race and gender.

The team considered having a non-human protagonist but it might have alienated the audience due to the lack of the human connection with the character.

Asmussen also got asked about Cal Kestis’ gender:

“We arrived at where we were because at the time [new film trilogy protagonist] Rey was kind of the thing for Star Wars, so it made a lot more sense for us to have a male protagonist,” Asmussen explained.
