Weta Workshop and Private Division have wonderful news for Middle-earth fans. Tales of the Shire, a game that puts players in the fuzzy feet of a Hobbit living his or her everyday life, will launch on multiple systems on March 25, 2025. The game will launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Netflix Games, and PC via Steam.
Developers have released an awesome 18-minute trailer to give viewers a peek at “exciting features and inspirations” for the game.

Tolkien’s Middle-earth universe for more than 25 years, and over that time, we have built up a deep understanding of the lore and a real love of Middle-earth that flows through our creative work across the screen, collectibles, and now, our cozy sims games,” said Richard Taylor, Co-founder and CEO at Wētā Workshop. “Tales of the Shire allows us to inspire our talents in an entirely new medium and, ultimately, create this game for people just like us – fans of The Lord of the Rings. This is a beautiful way that players who are looking for a quieter, more peaceful time can discover this in a less explored corner of this universe.”

- Welcome Home, Hobbit – Play as a Hobbit, directly out of J.R.R Tolkien’s beloved books! Personalize your appearance and brandish your best Hobbit attire with an array of customizations. Decorate your own Hobbit home and transform the cozy space with grid-free placement to position furniture and home décor to your liking. Discover the wonders each new day brings to Bywater as you settle into your serene homestead for much needed rest.

Meet iconic characters and familiar Hobbit families to trade for upgrades to skills, clothes, home, and more. Join club missions to complete daily activities and help gain official village status in Bywater.
