Get a taste of the magic as as a Reynatis demo appears across PC and console.
Reynatis, the fantasy action adventure from publisher NIS dropped a demo on Friday. As the week closed out, Reynatis pulled a free demo out of the hat for global audiences. Already available to play in Japan, this glimpse of magic in the Megalopolis of Tokyo is now available on PC, via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
Due to arrive across western shores on 27 September, the tale of Renatis is a mix of neon cityscapes, magic, and the expectations of society. Following the dual tales of mage Marin Kirizumi and government enforcer Sari Nishijima, it stalks the streets of Shibuya as wizards and witches try to exist in the modern world.
Marin acts as the core protagonist. A natural-born wizard and a wanderer, he comes to the hustle of Shibuya to become the strongest magic user of all and win his freedom from the expectations of society. Sari, acts as a counterpoint to this tale, trying to navigate the politics and pressures of an increasingly intolerant approach to magical enforcement.
This upcoming RPG is an interesting and ambitious mix of ideas. The iconic backdrop, the themes, and the flashy combat certainly draw from the likes of The World Ends With You and Persona, making it more than just a nostalgic return to Shibuya for me.
