Blizzard has updated the Diablo 3 site with some new information about Rise of the Necromancer. The upcoming add-on DLC for D3 will see players earn a number of in-game goodies.
Rise of the Necromancer
Anyone who buys the DLC will be able to play as either a male or female Necromancer. In addition, players will receive a number of in-game items as well as a pair of stash tabs and two extra character slots.
Here’s what owning RotN nets players:
- Necromancer-exclusive gear sets and legendary items
- the “half-formed” Golem pet
- portrait frame
- pennant
- wings
- banner shape and sigil
For those with a nostalgic bent, the new class is a throwback to Diablo 2. Many of the skills that are considered “signature” abilities are being brought forward into RotN. Necros will use blood, bone, and curses as well as “obedient minions” to take out enemies. D2 players will be instantly familiar with skills such as Corpse Explosion and Bone Spear.
Necromancers can expect darker, more controlled gameplay centered around the raw materials of life: blood and bone. Grounded in a philosophical, pragmatic approach to life and death, they’re more like a calculated conductor of the darkest arts. Deadly serious in their practice, they are the experts of curses and reanimation—and their pets obey their every command.
