Hardware enthusiasts are about to get another upgrade. Asus has just unveiled the follow up to their impressive ROG gaming phone lineup, the ROG Phone II Ultimate Edition.

Here There Be Snapdragons

Crammed full of power, the original ROG Phone was a significant step for the PC hardware brand. Usually synonymous with the PC Master race, the step into the mobile gaming market was first covered back in 2018. The new ROG Phone II Ultimate edition takes everything we know about the ROG Phone II and pushes it to a whole new level with 1TB of UFS 3.0 memory and some stunning new speed numbers. The new version of the ROG Phone II also adds improved LTE performance hitting speeds of up to 2Gbps using Cat 20 4G LTE download tech. Did we also mention the UE comes in a spiffy matt black finish.

Just like the ROG Phone II specs, this Ultimate Edition is built around the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 855 Plus Mobile Platform. The brand new mobile chipset at the heart of the ROG Phone II UE clocks up to 2.96GHz with graphics covered by another new piece of silicon. The Qualcomm® Adreno™ 640 GPU ensures the best graphical fidelity for anybody shelling out on the RROG Phone I, but that isn’t the end of things. Sitting on top of this mobile powerhouse is the world’s first 120Hz/1ms AMOLED 10-bit HDR 6.59-inch display. This should provide some outstanding color recreation and should provide impressive response times via the AirTrigger II tech involved.

Asus ROG has ensured that both ROG II phones are coupled with a chunky 6000mAh battery for good gaming times so our only concern is really keeping this beast cool. Asus has incorporated the uprated GameCool II 3D vapor-chamber cooling system and we will see if that manages to do the job when the whole thing ships out.

With all this hardware you can expect and ROG price and the ROG Phone II Ultimate Edition comes in at €1,199 compared to €899 for the regular. If you have a need for speed on the go then the ROG Phone II comes out later in September and the Ultimate Edition hits later in October. You can find out more about these devices over on the official ROG website.
