ROG just made an astounding entrance onto the CES 2022, kicking off the technology conference with a ton of new laptops, peripherals, networking kit, and more.
Just as we were contemplating Nvidia’s CES 2022 announcements, Asus ROG pressed play on another direct to consumer stream from CES 2022, unveiling a gaming cave full of new electronics coming to market. The electronics manufacturer dropped a ton of new gear from obvious peripheral upgrades to new motherboards, monitors, laptops, and some fancy new networking kit that could make everything in the connected home faster.
ROG Flow Z15
Headlining the ROG show is the introduction of the ROG Flow Z16, essentially a gaming tablet. The surface-styled 2-in-1 that comes pictured above brings together ultra thin portability and some serious gaming specs. The convertible can detach from its keyboard and measures in at just 12mm thin, but still manages to cram in an astounding amount of silicon, under the hood, as if there is even enough room for a hood, is an Intel Core i9-12900H CPU and RTX 3050 Ti graphics card. On the outside, games will be able to opt for either an HD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate or a 4K option that crams in 60Hz of goodness, and if you need more grunt then it can even plug into the Asus external GPU hub. While we don’t know when the ROG Flow Z15 will hit the market exactly expect two things, a rush to grab one and a high price point.
New Laptops
The Asus laptop lineup got a bunch of new additions this CES, with additions to the dual screen Duo range. The Duo 16 will sport a 16-inch display, the aforementioned second smaller screen, and features the following specs; AMD Ryzen 9 6980HX, an RTX 3080 Ti graphics card, up to 64GB RAM, and 4TB of SSD storage.
Laptops like the Flow X13 and the Zephyrus series got new iterations this year too. This included the addition of the latest 12th generation Intel CPUs, AMD Ryzen 6000 series processors, and the latest graphics cards.
ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 Router
Another unexpected entrant on the stage was ROGs newest router. A beastly-looking addition to your home network, this consumer-focused gaming router might not have the elegance of a UnFi AP but it has the specifications to warrant shouting about. This new WiFi 6E capable router is set to break out into the new 6Ghz spectrum, providing something of an unparalleled addition to your home network. If you’ve got a next-generation console, a top-of-the-line PC, or a brand new phone then, like us, you’ll find upgrading to WiFi 6 worth the effort. Check out our recent upgrade run down for more on making WiFi 6 work for you.
The ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 takes this one step further with WiFi 6E compatibility, a 2Ghz 64-bit quad-core processor, 16,000 Mbps of total WiFi throughput. The LAN side of things includes a pair of 10 Gbps ports, four 1 Gbps LAN ports, and a 2.5 Gbps WAN, while the includes user interfaces design, added software protection, and Asus mesh systems make this a very compelling piece.
Of course, that’s not everything that landed and it’d take half the day to introduce it, so head over to the Asus ROG CES 2022 portal for more.
