Russia to Remain in Steep Says Ubisoft…Rightly So

RUSSIA - STEEP ROAD TO THE OLYMPICS

While the International Olympic Committee may be playing politics with the Russian Olympic team, Ubisoft isn’t. Yesterday, the IOC banned Russia from the 2018 Olympics due to a “doping scandal”. While Russian athletes will be able to participate in the Olympics, all competitors will be prohibited from wearing a Russian flag when the Olympics kick off in South Korea next year.

Ubisoft has been touting its “Road to the Olympics” for months and released it on the day that the IOC handed down its ruling. So, while Russian athletes will not be able to win medals in the name of their country in South Korea, they and gamers around the world will be able to do so in Steep: Road to the Olympics.

Game Informer reached out to Ubisoft about possible implications of the IOC decision. The company responded, “There are no existing plans to patch Russia out of Steep: Road to the Olympics.”

Good news indeed.
