Sam & Max Save The World Remastered has been gearing up for a return to the action since a first new announcement hit on DATE. Now, the duo is back to crack a case on Nintendo Switch and PC.
Batman & Robin, Holmes & Watson, Sharky & George. These might all be epic crimebusters of land and sea but it looks like another dynamic duo has returned to screens as Sam & Max Save The World Remastered launches on Nintendo Switch and PC today. Available via the Nintendo eShop, Steam, and GoG, this remasters of the classic comedy crime-busting caper is all thanks to a small team of the original developers who doggedly grabbed the rights to this title after Telltale Games wound down in 2018. After two years of hard labour behind bars, fans of the Sam & Max series can head back to the Freelance Police department and tackle this adventure with a whole series of upgrades.
What, Who, WHY?
Sam & Max, for the uninitiated, are a six-foot dog in a suit and a hyperkinetic rabbity-thing with sharp wit, big guns, and their own unique way of fighting crime. The original Sam & Max launched back in the 1990s, thanks to LucasArts, as a point and click puzzler that mixed classic mysteries with sharp writing and a riff on modern-day pop culture. Generally considered a huge hit, the series continued until it fell by the wayside under the ownership of Telltale more recently. The new upgrades to the 2007 incarnation of these buddies bring a ton of upgraded graphics, improved sound, five new musical tracks, and a bunch of fixes to make the whole experience zanier than ever.
While we don’t expect you all to be as excited as we are about this return to a cult classic, it’d be criminal if you missed out on this one, or didn’t at least give our upcoming review a look. If you just can’t wait then Sam & Max Save The World Remastered is out now for USD $19.99 (or the equivalent in local currency), with anybody who owns the 2007 download version of Sam & Max Save the World (a.k.a. Sam & Max Season One) on Steam or GOG can get 50% off the remastered version through December 31. Find out more on the game’s official, and remastered, website.
