Samurai Jack, the time travelling warrior of Cartoon Network fame, is set to land across all platform on 21 August, according to publisher Adult Swim.
Originally a cartoon on both of the aforementioned TV channels, this time shifting ancient warrior is now set to get one last outing with his magical Katana in Samurai Jack Battle Through Time. Originally announced earlier this year and standing apart from previous Jack video games, Amulet of Time and The Hadow of Aku, this adventure finally sheds light on an untold tale in Jack’s battle against the demon Aku.
Adventure Again
Tieing directly into the canon of the cartoon series, Battle Through Time finds Jack ready to face Aku one last time. As Ashi realizes she has the same powers as Aku inside of her, she rips a hole in time for Jack to head back and defeat Aku in the past. Unfortunately, things go wrong and our hero must face every challenge he has overcome, one more time. With direction from Jack’s creator Genndy Tartakovsky and writing series head writer Darrick Bachman has promised fans plenty of familiar faces from the Samurai Jack series. As Jack jumps through time, we already know that you will encounter The Scotsman and his daughter(s), The Witch Hag, Josephine Clench (the bounty huntress), Demongo, Scaramouche, Da Samurai, and more. While more recent nostalgia tie ins like Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Biniki Bottom Rehydrated might have had a mixed response, we’re quite confident developer Soleil has this in hand. After the recent release of Ninjala, this team are now set on crafting an authentic hack and slash for fans of the sword wielding protagonist.
