Secret of Mana Remake coming to PS4, Vita, and Steam in February 2018

It's about damned time.

Here’s a surprise for your Friday morning. Secret of Mana, one of the greatest RPGs ever made, is getting the full remake treatment on PS4, PS Vita, and PC in February 2018. To close out a Gamescom that was full of news for Square Enix, the Japan-based publisher and developer announced the remake with a fantastic looking trailer. Who else can’t wait to eat candy and kill some little yellow rabbits in 3D? Now if only they’d announce it for the Switch as well…

Here’s hoping this series finds a brand new audience in 2018, and that we see some true sequels from Square down the road. Secret of Mana is one of the first console RPGs I ever played. I would stare at its lush green box art at the local video rental shop by my dad’s house, and when I rented it – I ended up keeping it for weeks on end just to play and replay it. It’s such a classic game, and I’m really curious to see how it’s being made over for the new generation.

  1. Oh wow, that is exciting and even more so it is actually coming to PC. Hyped.

    • Yeah! I know it looks like a Vita port, but I don’t care. Playing this in 3D with voice acting, and on a 4K monitor will be grand.

  2. The Steam page says it will have full controller support too which is great. I’ve added it to my wishlist and will try and wait patiently. This and the Breath of Fire series were a couple of my first JRPG.
