Sega has officially announced Yakuza 7 during a press conference held in Tokyo. This is the first true Yakuza game featuring a different protagonist: Kiryu’s journey ended in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. The new Yakuza is named Ichiban Kasuga and you could be familiar with him from the mobile game Yakuza Online.
The changes in the game are not limited to swapping out a protagonist. The events of Yakuza 7 take place in Yokohama and the game features an all-new turn-based jRPG-like battle system.
