FINALLY.

Fans of Valkyria Chronicles, rejoice! The spin-off tactical RPG Valkyria Revolution release date is set to launch on PS4 and PS Vita this June (we assume the same for other platforms, this announcement was on the PS Blog after all). We just received word via the PlayStation Blog. It’s sounding like a whole new game with a brand new combat system, new story, new location and more.  On top of that, there’s a pretty sweet collector’s edition being unveiled. See below.

From the PS Blog by SEGA’s Will Chan:

First things first: Valkyria Revolution is not a sequel to the Valkyria Chronicles series. “Spinoff” would be the right word. It takes place in a whole different timeline, continent, and universe than its predecessors, but familiar elements — such as the precious mineral ragnite and the legendary beings known as the Valkyria — make a return.

Instead of a World War II influence, the game is inspired by the European industrial revolution and focuses on a war of liberation between two vastly different nations. But arguably the biggest difference is the battle system. The turn-based action has been replaced with faster-paced (but no less strategic) combat. This hybrid battle system combines the tactics of customizing squad behavior and loadouts with real-time action for some pretty intense moments on the field.

  1. I’m both excited and hesitant.. I don’t like that they’re completely diverging from the old world building. Honestly the first game was amazing for me, I wish it was expanded more on. The others are meh.

    • It didn’t do great in Japan. I hope it’s fun, but I honestly am not too hyped.

      • That’s a shame, I remember a lot of it was based around their battle system being nothing like the first games.

  2. Very affordable on Amazon though, especially if Prime Member.
