Session: Skate Sim jsut got an utterly massive update, adding a ton of new locations, maps, and improved player physics to this authentic boarding throwback.
Players who’ve been busily boarding the streets of big cities and grinding the urban sprawls of Session: Skate Sim made a sizeable list of demands throughout the title’s early access testing, and now it appears publisher Nacon and developer creā-ture Studios are set to deliver. The team behind Session jsut dropped an utterly massive update to this title, and while it won’t see it launch out of early access testing yet, the news should find players catching air for days.
The latest news brings a ton of new content to the simulation, dropping in new locations and additional maps to this free form experience. Players who are already used to the existing areas of the game will now be able to weave their way through Jerome Avenue Banks in New York City and FDR Park in Philadelphia. The cities are also now bustling with pedestrians and on street activities street activity, adding to the chaos and overall immersion.
There are new skateboards to ride through these full sized recreations on, including Antiferg, Mark Appleyard, Billy Marks, Manny Santiago, and Beagle. A bunch of new customizable characters are now available too, with tons of iconic brands and clothes featured.
More important than looks, is how Session will feel. The latest changes overhaul the in game character physics. Combined with Full Body IK (Inverse Kinematics), the animation realism has been fully optimized. The interaction between the board and skateboarder has also been significantly improved to feel more fluid and more lifelike. I guess that means failing to make a landing will be realistically brutal too.
While it’s still a skateboarding sim, Session is almost the opposite of OlliOlli World. While we adored the joyus fantasy world and gave OlliOlli World a high scoring review, Session: Skate Sim is a hyper real throwback to the height of 1990s skate culture. Utilizing a unique True Stance Stick system, where each foot is controlled independently and adding in advanced video editing tools for those YouTude skate videos, Session: Skate Sim seems as close as I’m ever going to be to taking on Tony Hawks. You can check out the update trailer above and head over to grab some early access skating on Steam, the Xbox Game Preview program, and the Epic Games Store
