Set off for Valhalla in Niffelheim for consoles

Niffelheim is ready to take console players on a journey to Valhalla thanks to its arrival on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Players take the part of a “battle-weary Viking” who has to fight his way into the legendary halls of valor.

The game presents players with a number of features to enhance gameplay. This includes a fleshed-out crafting system, a “hand-drawn storybook” art style, and an interesting story. The goal for players is to survive long enough to find a way to the promised land.

From our recent PS4 review:

“Niffelheim is a strong showing by an indie game company. It’s survival mechanics might feel a bit too familiar without adding much new. Initially, it’ll take quite a while to feel productive as the resource grind is a bit real. 2D might be appealing to some or might be a turn-off for veteran players coming from a lot of the 1st and 3rd person survival games out there.”

Niffelheim features

  • Do What it Takes to Survive: Using only the items that can be collected or forged, players must build shelter, weapons, and armor. Then, brew healing potions and deadly poisons to thwart enemies and prepare delicious, life-restoring meals for themselves and their companions.
  • Carve Out a Legacy: Defeat any and all foes who dare to oppose you in your quest for glory. Receive quests from the Death Priests, or go it alone and survive by wits, blade, cunning, and luck.
  • Explore and Escape:  Scour the cruel environment in search of pieces of the portal to Asgard, heavily guarded by powerful foes — a necessary risk worth taking in order to make an escape!
