Shadow, the cloud computing company that took high end PC gaming into the ether, has announced Shadow Spotlight, a keynote presentation coming in May.

After some uncertainty, in the wake of some serious business blows, Shadow might be set to relaunch, with the news of an upcoming keynote presentation. The internet technology company that designed some seriously impressive cloud gaming systems has announced Shadow Spotlight will be broadcast May 18th at 17:00 CEST / 15:00 UTC / 08:00 PDT on Shadow’s regional YouTube, Twitch, and Twitter channels.

We do not have the full details of this presentation, but it is encouraging to see the company take to the stage again. While we’ve Shadow developed its own desktop in the cloud product back in 2018, this offering stands out as one of the most innovative gaming platforms we’ve seen in a long time. Adding a top tier GPU, unparalleled response times, and the freedom to run a fully-fledged Windows desktop over very limited bandwidth, Shadow managed to fit a fully-fledged gaming desktop into the cloud.

Shadow Desktop Specifications

GeForce GTX 1080
4 cores / 8 threads
12 GB
256 GB (upgrade to 1TB)
Windows 10 x64

Despite a fantastic product, the GPU shortage of recent years and the lure of mining money meant that Shadow’s hardware was quite literally pulled from beneath the service, leaving it in serious trouble. Now we’re hoping that after some stability and reassessment, things might be on the bounce for Shadow. Now a global cloud-computing company chaired by Octave Klaba, OVHcloud founder, Shadow has a clear ambition: to set personal technology free from its material boundaries, making it accessible and affordable to gamers, creatives, and businesses. After the Shadow Spotlight presentation, the team behind the tech will host a chat with our teams in English and French on their Twitch channels.

You can watch the stream over on the Twitch Shadow Official (EN) and Twitch Shadow France (FR) channels come 18 May.

For those of you who I’ve not met yet, my name is Ed. After an early indoctrination into PC gaming, years adrift on the unwashed internet, running a successful guild, and testing video games, I turned my hand to writing about them. Now, you will find me squawking across a multitude of sites and even getting to play games now and then
