Shark! Shark! Might be out to take a retro tinged bite out of your weekend across PC, consoles, and MacBooks.

It’s back from the depths of time and now available on PC, MacBook, and Nintendo Switch. Reimagining a classic 16-bit adventure, this new aquatic adventure will set you against the perils of the deep blue, and try to evade the razor sharp consequences of some questionable choices.

Originally released on the Intellivision home console in 1982, the game has been reimagined in a significantly higher resolution, although it doesn’t dispatch all it original ideas. Playing as an ambitious little fish, you and your friends can swim vast stretches of the ocean, but you’’ll need to avoid being eaten. Humungous sharks will eat you whole, but a range of other problems are around. Lobster, crab, kraken, puffer fish, orca, and electric eels will all hinder your progress or simply take a bite out of you. Don’t worry though, you can eat anything smaller than you on screen. It’s a game of eat or be eaten and the more you consume in this side scroller the higher the points total.

It all reminds me of Octogeddon without the thermonuclear war and giant monsters. It’s a bit of a difference I’ll grant, but the simple side scrolling controls with layered mechanics mean you’ll be able to splash around for hours. Check out the trailer and head over to the Steam Store page for more on Shark! Shark!
