Sony pressed play on the PlayStation State of Play May 2024 update last night and this is the rundown of everything, from Alien: Rogue Incursion to Astro Bot.
The regular online showcase of upcoming PlayStation titles went live once again last night, unveiling a range of upcoming adventures coming to Team Blue’s gaming console soon. Everything from family-friendly fun to horrific Alien experiences took to the screen, starting with PlayStation’s very own Astro Bot.
Astro Bot
After an initial outing in Astro Bot Rescue Mission, the tiny robot is back for another full-sized adventure. Coming out of Sony’s own in-house PlayStation Studios, this new title allows players to explore 6 galaxies and over 80 levels in a charming experience on 6 September.
Until Dawn
While Until Dawn originally dropped back in 2015, the iconic Fear Fest will arrive on CP and PlayStation 5 this fall. Feel the chilling fear of this wintery fright fest in the latest trailer.
Path of Exile 2
Grinding Gear games wildly successful ARPG comes to PlayStation this year. Beginning with an early Access stint before its full leap from PC, the free-to-play fantasy dungeon basher brings a huge range of builds, tons of potential enemies, and oceans of loot with an added bonus. The PlayStation launch will also add couch co-op for anybody eager to experience the excitement with friends.
Silent Hill 2
Another horror trailer for yet another remake. Silent Hill 2 comes to PlayStation 5 on 8 October 2024. The most recent instalment in the franchise comes form Bloober Team. While the news from this update is still somewhat scarce, we’re all holding our breath to see if the studio behind the intriguing but flawed The Medium is as loved as Konami’s original.
Alien: Rogue Incursion
Space, bad life choices, an evil industrial corporation, and big scary xenomorphs. With the release of a big-screen follow-up to the Alein franchise incoming, it seems like the perfect time to boot up your PlayStation and scream. Alien: Rogue Incursion drags willing victims into an upcoming single-player VR experience that is likely to make the Jurassic Park VR spin-offs look like a raptor petting zoo. Here’s hoping that the title from Survios does as well as Alien Isolation.
Marvel: Rivals
Marvel’s mightiest heroes are about to go toe to toe in an Overwatch-inspired hero shooter that is gaining some serious hype right now. Superhero games can seem like a bit of a cash grab, but early reveals of characters and gameplay look positive for Marvel Rivals. The likes of Loki, Thor, Spiderman, the X-Men, and more are all about to blow up, and the new State of Play trailer comes just ahead of a Closed Beta Test on PS5 in July 2024.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins
The Three Kingdoms hack and slash is back again. This time with bigger battles, and more epic gameplay, and it’s coming to PlayStation platforms in 2025.
Where Winds Meet
A new, and different eastern adventure. This upcoming Wuxia open-world action-adventure RPG takes PlayStation owners to China. Set during ancient times, it incorporates an engaging narrative with explosive martial arts combat. It’s certainly not going to be much more realistic than the previous trailer. This is Wuxia, so expect dragons in the new trailer.
Infinity Nikki
Explore a vast open world and dress up. Infinity Nikki, strangely enough, is probably the most intriguing of the recent Stat of Play trailers. Putting players into a magical realm, this adventure awakens magical powers hidden within various outfits that protagonist Nikki can wear. All sounds a bit magical girl to me and I’m off to find out when the beta test lands.
Ballad of Antara
TipsWorks Studio from Infoldgames announced Ballad of Antara, a free-to-play fantasy action-RPG, which is coming to PlayStation 5 in 2025.
Monster Hunter Wilds
More Monsters! More Wilds! More big battles against huge mouths full of vicious teeth. Monster Hunter Wilds is what you’d expect and its coming to console owners in 2025.
Skydance’s Behemoth
Yet another game for the underloved PSVR2, Skydance’s Behemoth is an original story set in the Forsaken Lands, the plague-ravished wasteland of a once glorious empire, where its inhabitants are driven mad, and cities have fallen to ruin. Explore a brutal world and take on epic adversaries in combat that gets up close and personal. Check out the trailer for more on this Impressive new adventure.
Concord
Take a first look at the gameplay, universe, and characters of Concord. Go get a look at this 5v5 character-driven online shooter full of aliens, robots, and big guns.
God of War Ragnarök
This time PC players can experience epic combat. The hugely popular, and well reviewed, God of War Ragnarök is coming to PC. On 19 September 2024. What else do I need to say to end the roundup of the PlayStation State of Play May 2024?
