Femme Fatales, furious fists, and anime avatars are all about to arrive for a new audience. Console owners are about to get Skullgirls 2nd Encore, the ultimate update for the Skullgirls franchise, as it arrives on Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch this summer.
For anybody that missed it first time around, Skullgirls initially launched back in 2012 and is developed by Lab Zer Studios. It puts players in the shoes of some fierce warriors and takes place in a hand drawn dark deco world. Now available on almost every conceivable platform, from PC and PlayStation to Linux and Android, Skullgirls 2nd Encore is the ultimate update to this fast past 2D fighting game. Largely inspired by the Marvel vs Capcom 2 game engine, Skullgirls 2nd Encore includes all the original Skullgirls game mechanics and includes a ton of tuning, faster gameplay, better balance, new challenges, the Typing of the Skulgirls game mode, and an improved combo system.
Skullgirls 2nd Encore comes to both Xbox One and Switch via the Nintendo eSHop and Xbox Games Store, but Nintendo Switch owners get an extra special edition too. A limited boxed edition will be available for purchase at $49.99 and includes a few treats:
• Skullgirls Encore Switch cartridge with all previous DLC.
• Skullgirls Switch controller skin
• Skullgirls original soundtrack from composer Michiru Yamane on a never-before-released 12” vinyl record.
If you are ready to be your best Skullgirl you can find out more on the game’s official website, or you can catch the Skybound Games team at Pax East this March.
