Sony is doubling down on virtual reality and its PlayStation VR library. According to an interview at Nikkei (translated by SiliconEra), the company is expecting to ship up to 130 virtual reality games in 2018 alone. This number of games increases the existing VR titles by 80%.

This is great news for the two million PSVR owners. While a slow ramp up to players purchasing the headset, holiday sales were up significantly due to big discounts.

Player interest has also increased with significant developers including Capcom and Bandai Namco coming in with titles in the near future. Games that are already out or are coming to PSVR include Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Bravo Team and Homestar VR.

Sony Interactive Entertainment Chairman Andrew House said, “We are delighted that so many people are enjoying the unique entertainment proposition of PlayStation 4 and that an emerging technology like PlayStation VR continues to gain traction. I cannot thank our fans and partners enough. Their support, since the launch of very first PlayStation in 1994, has helped to make PlayStation one of the biggest console gaming network in the world.  We will continue to work closely with partners to maintain this momentum and remain steadfast in making PS4 the best place to play.”
