Sony Is Skipping E3 Again

PLAYSTATION 5 IMPROVEMENTS E3 2020 system specification

Sony has confirmed, today, that it is Skipping E3 2020 for the second year in a row.

In news that none of us are all that surprised about, Sony has confirmed that they will once again not be attending E3. The yearly Entertainment Expo is one of the world’s biggest amalgamation of tech and entertainment but it looks like the Japanese giant will be absent. Skipping the event last year, Sony focused on events such as Gamescom and their own Playstation tours to get the message out about big announcements. This year, it seems, that all the big detail about the up and coming Playstation 5 will be coming out a little later in the year. Whether this is a consistent move or simply due to deadlines around the Playstation 5, we do not know. The ESA, that runs the E3 exhibition released a statement on Sony’s disappearance.

“E3 is a signature event celebrating the video game industry and showcasing the people, brands and innovations redefining entertainment loved by billions of people around the world. E3 2020 will be an exciting, high-energy show featuring new experiences, partners, exhibitor spaces, activations, and programming that will entertain new and veteran attendees alike. Exhibitor interest in our new activations is gaining the attention of brands that view E3 as a key opportunity to connect with video game fans worldwide.”

While E3 2019 brought us a ton of cool content it was more noteworthy for the number of leaks and pre E3 announcements that mired the usual conference watching that us press have to put up with. Without Sony’s PS5 and its logo to spruce up E3 it’s likely the stage is set for more indie performances like Deveolver Digital’s E3 Direct experience. E3 opens on 9 June until 11 June and we will have all the big news here on Gamespace.
