Square Enix developers have posted a brand new blog about several aspects about Dragon Quest Treasures. The detailed post peeks into the story, characters, and gameplay for the forthcoming title, currently targeting a December 9, 2022 launch day on Nintendo Switch.
The blog begins with an exploration of the foundational story for the game, where a pair of siblings are “whisked off” to a mysterious location. Once there, they set off to explore the world in search of grand treasure.
Fans of the long-running series may recognize Erik and Mia. Both appeared in DQXI and are making a return to the franchise in this latest iteration. During the game, players control both protagonists and can choose between them at will. The two share progress and character development, so switching between them is no problem.
Along the way, players will encounter both friendly and unfriendly monsters. It’s up to the player to assemble an awesome team of monsters to fight alongside them and to assist in finding treasures. Friendly monsters have an array of skills to help out.
In addition, players will need to protect their Viking ship, their base of operations. It can come under attack from pirates or other nefarious gang members that are out to steal treasures stored aboard ship.
