An Easter egg in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order pays tribute to one developer’s late father. Nicholas G. Cameron, a level designer at Respawn, was instrumental in the creation of an “iconic snowy planet”. During the years he worked on Fallen Order, however, Cameron’s father passed away.
On November 19th, Cameron sent out a series of Twitter posts to talk about one touching moment in his work on the planet. He reveals that he placed a tribute to his late father who passed away in early 2018. As players explore, they may run across an “echo”, special lore tidbits about the location players are in, about Mar Ti “Bucky” Kam’Ron. The name pays homage to Cameron’s father who also once worked on Star Wars games including X-Wing vs TIE Fighter.
Here is Cameron’s story in his own words.
[JFO Spoilers]
For #JediFallenOrder, I was lucky enough to do the level design of an iconic snowy planet (that I won’t name atm)! While you explore it, you may happen across something special. An echo about Mar Ti “Bucky” Kam’Ron.
That echo is a tribute to my dad (1/5) pic.twitter.com/gM7drvbG3d

My dad’s real name is Martin Cameron, Bucky to his friends, and he passed away early last year.
He lived an amazing life and losing him has been hard. But one neat thing I’d like to share, is that he’s why I got into games!

He was an old school games industry artist, with a resume that includes games like Monkey Island and X-Wing vs TIE Fighter! (You can check out the whole list here: https://t.co/be0y1O2A2d)
Which means we shared something pretty wild. We both got to work on Star Wars games.

I’ll always be grateful that he got to know I’d be working on JFO, but dang is it rough he didn’t get to see me ship it.
All of that makes leaving this tribute to him extra special, because its within a world that we shared. And now he gets to live on as a Jedi in the SW world.

I forgot to include some pictures of him, including the picture of him in the hat that’s at the tribute! pic.twitter.com/BczoDxXmZj

Players and fans have responded with appreciation and affection for Cameron’s story. The official Respawn Twitter account also posted this touching tweet.
May the Force be with him, always ?
