Seaga is giving away Total War: Shogun 2 for free in an effort to help keep us a little more entertained while stuck at home.
It seems that everything we’re writing right now is tainted by the ongoing pandemic that is rife in the world. Publisher Sega is attempting to serve us all with a little distraction in this time by giving away their strategy title, Shogun War 2 over on Steam. Players who want to grab the historical war sim can do so from today, right through until 1 May 2020. The feudal fight is available for free as part of a wider sale that Sega is running. The free to keep campaign should not be mistaken for the recent trial period, so players that grab the game for free will retain it after May opens.
First Time Samurai?
This is a prime opportunity for anybody who hasn’t delved into the Total War series to get a sample of the franchise. Total War: Shogun 2 take the same tactical combat systems that have made Total War such an iconic name in the genre and plunge it into the feudal era Japan. Set around 16th Century Japan, a once unified nation is now split into several different factions. Ten legendary warlords strive for supremacy as you take on the role of one Daimyo, a clan leader, as you fight for honor and power in a cutthroat series of encounters.
Shogun 2 mixes the same range of real-time strategy and tactical overview that you would expect from Total War across a campaign that takes to land and sea. A plethora of enhancements are available from the first Shogun game, including new hero units and an online battle mode. This might not be Total War: Warhammer, so don’t expect to see any Skaven skittering around, but if you want something BAFTA award-winning to tide you over and escape the same four walls then get Total War: Shogun 2 for free on PC now. Grab it over on the official Shogun 2 Steam Store page if you feel like a samurai.
