Developer Valve rolled out a new blog post dedicated to Steam Game Recording, a major update now available to all users. It’s a new built-in system for creating and sharing your gameplay footage, which runs in the background so you never miss a moment.
The team points out that there are so many ways to use this all-new set of features, from capturing your highlights to documenting entire campaigns. It’s easy to find, clip, and share your gameplay.
- With Background Recording mode, your gameplay is continuously saved to your preferred drive, never exceeding your specified duration and storage limits. You can also take advantage of an On Demand Recording mode with manual start and stop;
- Replay allows you to quickly jump back in time. It’s useful for things like seeing what went wrong when your hero died, or recalling something mentioned by an npc earlier;
- Clip lets you find, share and edit local footage in the redesigned Recordings & Screenshots interface;
- One-click share to a friend in chat or post your finest moments for the world to see. Plus easily send footage from your Steam Deck to your PC or mobile device.
Since June, Steam added several new features:
- Game-specific settings
- Quick capture hotkey options
- Advanced export options
- Session View – A new way to view your footage in the new Recordings & Screenshots manager with game-specific tags and data
