Stonefly launches On 1 June

Stonefly, the charming handcrafted new action-adventure from Flight School Studios, is set to ride the wind when it launches on PC and Console this June.

After cropping up on our radars back in April, Stonefly is now due to fly into our lives at the very opening moments of June, providing a tranquil retreat from the rigmarole of lockdown. Out in a wilderness inspired by mid-century modern design and nature, Stonefly will take players on a mech adventure through an enchanting forest. This quest will follow the coming-of-age story of Annika Stonefly, a brilliant but naïve inventor on a quest to recover a lost family heirloom. While out on this expedition, Annika will rely on her homemade mech to glide strategically among flora and fauna, avoid danger and take on a variety of bug types to harvest minerals.

As with any mech story, you’ll be able to build your own armor, crafting new abilities for your machine while customizing it to match your play style. It might not seem like much among the oversized outdoor backdrop, but with some strategy and the right upgrades, Annika should easily survive this breathtaking world. While there’s plenty of action to this tale, Flight School Studios is eager to indoctrinate us into Stonefly with a series of new lore teasers. The indie team behind this tale just dropped the first of these, which you can check out above, with even more coming between now and launch.

“Our small team set out to create something visually unique and mechanically original with Stonefly and we think players are going to love following Annika’s journey and gliding around the world we’ve created,” said Bohdon Sayre, Game Director at Flight School Studio. “We always challenge ourselves to put stakes in the ground outside the norm, and MWM Interactive has been a great partner to allow us the creative freedom to take risks and explore new territory. Stonefly is an ambitious project, different than anything we’ve made before, and a game that we are really proud of.”

While this might not be a get in the robot moment or a Super Mech Brawl, the charm of Stonefly already has us won over and ready to explore when it comes to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on 1 June. For now, check out more on the official website.
