Stronghold: Warlords Gets Extended E3 Reveal

Stronghold: Warlords

Stronghold: Warlords is giving potential commanders a glimpse of the upcoming battle for history. Hot off it’s unveiling in the E3 Kinda Funny Games Showcase, Firefly Studios has released a deeper dive into the brand new strategy game.

Due to invade PC sometime in 2020, Stronghold: Warlords is just the latest entry in the historical castle siege series. Taking players back as far as China’s 3RD century BC through to the first moments of the Mongol Empire in 1200 AD, Warlords provides players with an opportunity to lay siege to the fortresses of great Imperial Warlords and Shogun commanders. This is the first of the Stronghold series to take players out east and face the clans that inhabit this new territory.

New Allies & Extended Reveal

Stronghold: Warlords is also the first in this franchise to introduce AI-powered lords. Across the field of battle, players can recruit, command, and actively upgrade a range of AI commanders throughout a campaign. Each of these additions to your arsenal comes with their own abilities particular benefits. Players can deploy these lords of battle in a number of ways, upgrading fortifications, forging new gunpowder weapons, or simply providing more force of arms on the battlefield. With new campaigns, new maps, and new weapons Stronghold: Warlords is going to be distinctly different from its predecessors. Firefly Studios talked through some of these tactical changes in the new video below.

Stronghold might very well be 20 years old but the team at Firefly Studios are still updating this strategy sim. If you are ready to face the Mongol hordes then Stronghold: Warlords is due on PC in 2020. You can find out more about the title on the official website or at the Steam store page.
