Super Nintendo World Is Officially Getting A Donkey Kong Adventure

Super Nintendo World, the real-life theme park based on Nintendo’s iconic franchises, is now officially getting a Donkey Kong expansion.

Putting the rumors to bed with an official confirmation, Nintendo has announced that their recently opened theme park is set to get a Donkey Kong attraction. Confirmed in a press release from the gaming giant, the new Donkey Kong area of Nintendo’s Super Nintendo World will allow guests to Universal Studios Japan to wander around the jungle home of Donkey Kong and friends. Alongside characterized creations and the greenery, there will be a roller coaster, plenty of loot, themed food to try, and other experiences on offer for fans of the Nintendo franchise.

The Donkey Kong addition to Super Nintendo World is the first full add-on to the park since it opened on Feb 2021, after some Coivd delays. Originally built around Mario, the attractions are situated in the massive Universal Studios Japan and is the result of work by both the Universal Studios team and minds like Shigeru Miyamoto, who will help bring the new world to life. While we don’t have a date for the bright new offering, we do know it’s going to be almost as big as the existing attraction, increasing Super Nintendo World by about 70% in size.

Admittedly, there’s no reason to get too excited yet. Most of us won’t even be able to enter Japan right now or in the close future, thanks to Covid-19 restrictions. The nearest we’re getting to new Nintendo content is the new Mario animated feature film, or maybe just a new Nintendo Switch. I’m off to peruse the eShop and prepare. You can check out the full press release from Nintendo on the official website now.
