If you’ve not already jumped into Blizzard’s Overwatch then this hero brawler is about to offer a free trial for Nintendo Switch Online Subscribers, for a time.
Extending an already existing offer from eastern markets into America and other western regions, Nintendo announced that subscribers who currently pay for the Nintendo Switch Online subscription will get this added benefit. We caught the announcement over on social media and it appears that teams who want to save the world are getting a full week to play for free in the fight for the future. Kicking off on 13 October and running all the way up until the 20 October, this Overwatch game trial should let newcomers, and anybody who wants to take Tracer on the go, try out the small screen version of the game before putting down serious money.
A Long Time Coming
Originally launched back in 2016 on PC, Overwatch set out to save the day on Nintendo Switch in late 2019. While the heroic efforts of Mercy and co come with some relatively achievable graphical requirements on PC, that doesn’t mean that the port to the Nintendo Switch will always be directly comparable. Blizzard will be hoping that this event justifies the current price of $39.99 over on the Nintendo eShop Store.
The upcoming free play event adds to a range of other perks that Nintendo Switch Online subscribers get for their monthly fees. Alongside cloud saves and access to a back catalogue of retro games, which included the addition of the excellent Donkey Kong 2 recently, the Nintendo Switch Online subscription also allows players to go battle royale in the new Mario 35 plumber rumble. While this news of an Overwatch Trial isn’t quite a free to play option, it’s not a move we see from Blizzard often so it might be worth dusting down your Switch and grabbing a few games while the gates are open. Check out more on Nintendo Switch Online and the Overwatch free play event over on the Nintendo Switch Store now.
