Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios have started a new series of blog posts designed to introduce some of the systems included in Magic: Legends. Some of the things detailed in the video and developer diary include suggestions from the alpha community during the ongoing testing phase. The upcoming multiplayer RPG is set to hit open beta on March 23rd.
Originally, developers wrote, the idea was to provide players with “an innovative concept” for equipment that includes “using spells and artifacts of different levels and rarities”. However, after feedback from the community, the team decided to alter the system to something more in line with other ARPGs. Gear will come in four different rarities and will fit into Planeswalker gear slots. Each piece will feature a number of stat bonuses that can be offensive or defensive to enhance combat ability and survivability. Gear will also include Adaptive and Core Mods that can be slotted. Adaptive Mods can be swapped out while Core Mods are fixed.
Gear is great but every Planeswalker wants to look stylish along the way so developers have provided a way to do so by visiting the Tailor:
The Tailor is an NPC you’ll find in the hub area of each region. There, you can view your unlocked appearances from the gear you’ve been collecting throughout your adventures. Mix and match your favorite pieces to create a Planeswalker that matches your style. The Tailor allows you to edit your costume’s Headwear, Bodywear, Undershirts, Armwear, Gloves, Pants, and Footwear. You can also use The Tailor to adjust your character’s body, face, skin color, hairstyle, and more. Then, save those appearances to swap your Loadouts as you want to mix it up.
