Tales of Crestoria, the latest title in the “Tales of” series has dropped a trailer introducing players to this story of sin before it reaches mobiles.
Set to arrive on iOS and Android sometime in June 2020, Bandai Namco’s latest entry into the long-standing Tales of franchise will find its way into gamers hand well in advance of Tales of Arise. In preparation for the release of this JRPG, Bandai has unveiled a brand new trailer that introduces the main protagonists of this story and prepares players to enter a new world of adventure.
This final trailer tells us of a world where citizens are forced to wear vision orbs. These implants allow anybody who has transgressed society’s rules can be condemned by popular vote. Unfortunately, this situation is closer to classic 1984 or Logan’s Run territory than a TV talent show. The marked sinners are hunted down for their efforts and punished for their actions. When this dystopian justice turns its attention towards the game’s two main characters, things get interesting.
The new trailer doesn’t just detail the narrative content players can expect to find when they get this game. Tales of Crestoria is a mix of 2D narrative content and 3D mobile battles, similar to many modern JRPGs. The trailer shows off some of this including party combat that uses a turn-based combat system. Howling for Honey, the gam’s main theme by Japanese band Gesu no Kiwami Otome also plays prominently throughout and a range of animated cut scenes also feature in this trailer, making Crestoria look like a premium mobile offering.
With some serious development effort going on to produce this title, and a major publisher backing it, Tales of Crestoria looks to be more than a set of new characters in another throwaway mobile RPG. It could be the Tales of title that fans of the franchise didn’t realize that they needed until now. If you want to get a glimpse of the people and places of Crestoria before this game arrives, check out the trailer above or head over to the official website now for more details on the recently announced Beta test, coming sometime in May.
