Teamfight Tactics Goes Into the Arcane

Teamfight Tactics Goes Into the Arcane - character combat and a big swirly purple effect

Teamfight Tactics, the mini tactical battler from Riot, gets an Into the Arcane update on 20 November.

Teamfight Tactics is set to celebrate the release of Arcane Season 2 on Netflix with a new update that plays heavily on the celebrated animation. The world of Arcane once again manifests in the Convergence on 20 November 2024, adding a mix of champions, traits, mechanics, and augments that draw on the characters of Piltover and Zaun.

Riot introduced the upcoming addition to the arena during the Magic n’ Mayhem Tactician’s Crown Finals, showcasing the Arcane gameplay. The full list of upcoming changes and heroes can be found in the video preview above.

The new update builds out the roster with 11 TFT-exclusive units from the world of Arcane alongside iconic champions from League of Legends. That list includes Silco, Powder, Violet, Vander, Sevika, Smeech, and others too. Champions aren’t the only way to turn a battle. The Convergence brings a bunch of new traits to the fore. Enforcer allows players to start combat with shields and damage amplification. The highest health enemy units become WANTED, granting Attack Speed boosts upon their defeat, while other options add Firelights which dash every 6 seconds, attacking with infinite range while healing based on the damage they’ve taken.

These are accompanied by other tweaks that embody themes and characters drawn from Arcane’s version of the LoL universe::

  • Chem-Baron: Gain Shimmer after each player combat, with increased rewards during a loss streak. Collect Shimmer to access the Black Market and choose powerful Illegal Items that enhance your Chem-Barons.
  • Academy: Sponsored items provide bonuses to max Health and Damage Amp, which are doubled for Academy units.
  • Family: Family members provide mutual support, reducing max Mana and enhancing bonuses.
Other Additions

A new set mechanic, called The Anomaly, allows players to reroll bonuses to permanently transform one Champion on their board per game, and a massive rework of the in game Augments is coming. The biggest change in Augments since Set 7 should change the battle board for upcoming encounters.

About Team Fight Tactics

Team Fight Tactics (TFT) is an auto-battler strategy game developed by Riot Games and available across PC and Mobile. Coming to screens on 26 June, 2019, it has since gained huge traction thanks to its auto-chess gameplay, popular IP, and free to play monetization. TFT combines strategy and decision-making skills as players build teams of champions to battle against other players in auto-generated combat scenarios. Each match consists of rounds where players strategically position their champions on the board, purchase new units, and equip them with items to enhance their abilities. The latest Into the Arcane update will enhance this battler with even more characters from the League of Legends universe, each with its own unique traits, classes, and origins, offering players a diverse and engaging gameplay experience.
