Indie developer CooCooSqueaky has just announced that its turn-based JRPG is about to bring a brand new adventure to Xbox One and Ste, but it’s not coming west. It never left!
Brought to life by a team of dedicated developers from the south coast of the United Kingdom, Bournemouth, Tears of Avia is an ode to everything anime wrapped up in a turn based tactical JRPG. Stunning hand drawn artwork, some solid looking combat, and a sprawling narrative make this adventure worth watching. Players who pick up this title later in the year will find themselves engrossed in a world called Estera. This once proud land is now torn apart thanks to a fued between two city states. This warfront has torn through the lives of citizens on both sides and seems to have left plenty of abandoned land to explore.
Venturing out alone can be dangerous, that’s why adventurers heading out into Estra can build their party from dozens of playable characters. Spanning five classes, each of these characters brings their own unique skills and leads to hundreds of potential combinations. You can slot together your burn, freeze, stun, cripple and more to obliterate any enemies while retaliation, redirects, immunities and more can mitigate incoming damage to your heroes.
Whether you chose to represent the zealots of Tirig or the godless heathens of Helmgar, this title looks like it’s cast out a promising start based on the trailer above.
