Tencent Will Publish PUBG In China

PUBG

Tencent has announced its partnership with Bluehole and will be the official publisher of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds in China. Earlier in the year, Bloomberg discovered that China’s Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association rated PUBG as “harmful with young consumers”. Tencent’s involvement should pave the way for a smoother transition.

GamesIndustry.biz has also pointed out that some changes will have to be made to the game:

PUBG will also have to abide by China’s regulations around revealing loot box drop rates, though Blizzard came up with a creative workaround for Overwatch.

Recently PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds also broke seven Guinness World Records.  The list consists of:

  • Most actively played video game on Steam – Recorded a peak of 1,984,278 concurrent players as of Oct. 10, 2017
