Offering a mix of deep, tactical deck building and cute blue slimes, Rise of the Slime is a cheeky upstart that should soon be slipping out of Early Access and into a full release schedule. First launched into its pre-release form in 2019, this unlikely quest will shortly release on PC and console, according to publisher Playstack. Not only will this charming title hit PC any time soon, but the team behind the blue blob has also confirmed that anybody with a Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, or Xbox platform device will also be able to pick up a copy of Rise of the Slime.
What Makes Up A Slime
While anime fans might feel a twinge of recognition for a certain Isekai, this is a turn based deck builder that mixes side scrolling RPGs with the roguelite deck building that is all the rage these days. The Early Access time has gestated more than a gooey mess. Players taking control of ‘the Slime’ can bounce across a roguelike 2D world, scribbled into life with cardboard cutout monsters. Along the way, there are over 100 cards to pick from and a wealth of strategies to develop n the way to saving the world. In its final form, the full game will feature new modes for runs (including shorter but more intense runs), new locations, improvements to the game feel, as well as more than 50 Core Mutators that add a new dimension of strategy to each playthrough too. Rise of the Slime is still available on Steam Early Access for now at a cost of $1299 with a move into full access imminent, and we’re off to get slimed by this cutie now.
