Avermedia Technologies Inc just unveiled the Live Gamer Bolt, a new external capture box that boasts a whopping 240FPS and 4K HDR capture.

For those of you that do dabble in the odd bit of streaming, a dedicated capture card is probably at the top of your must-have lists. For most of us, this means picking up something live Avermedia’s Live gamer Portable 2 Plus or an Elgato HD60. If you want to push resolution much higher than 1080p then things tend to go internal. Not any more! Avermedia just unveiled the Live Gamer Bolt, a stand-alone capture box that can capture incoming video feeds at up to 4K60 HDR10 and Full HD at 240 frames per second. As a world-first, it’s pretty impressive.

The Even More Technical Bit

Admittedly the Live Gamer Bolt cannot capture 4K at 240 FPS. Instead, dedicated gamers looking for the external capture card can grab incoming 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) at 60 frames per second. HD resolution can be cranked up to a whole 240 FPS. The Live Gamer Bolt leans heavily on Intel’s Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, allowing some seriously hefty data transfer rates. The bus supports anything up to 40Gbps, that’s compared to USB 3.1 rates of around 10Gbps. While this means some cool slow-motion video or ridiculously crystal clear capture, it also means you will need to have a free Thunderbolt 3 port. AMD Ryzen converts, you have been warned. We’ve dropped the full requirements and specifications below

While we’re planning to get gamespace streaming later this month, we might hold off on the 4K capture quite yet and focus on getting just the right microphone for the job for now.
