Over the past couple of weeks, I have had the opportunity to play The Crew 2 in closed beta, in open beta, and in early release. What have I found from this game? This game is full of cars, boats, planes and other vehicles to wet your speed whistle. If that isn’t enough for you speed demons out there, there is also a storyline that you will be able to follow while playing the game. The story mode is secondary to the main racing in the game but don’t let that stop you from having fun in whatever way you want to.
There are many positives in this game, maybe a few negatives too, but we will focus on the former first. The game is a huge open world platform for you to explore in whatever vehicle you find best suited to your needs. If you don’t want to spend time traveling around you can go into the menu and quickly search around the United States to go to missions on land, in the air or on the water. You can see iconic cities like San Francisco, New York City, and even the Marshlands in Florida. Ok so that last one isn’t as iconic as it is filled with Alligators, but you get where I am coming from. If you ever wanted to travel the country, here is one way to do it. Sure it isn’t real but hey they got really close in this game. The cars, the boats, the off-road vehicles, and the planes feel realistic, or at least as realistic as they can for a video game. The only thing that would make this game better would be a Virtual Reality version where you are really driving or flying.
As far as negatives are concerned, I don’t really think there are negatives so much as there are low points. Some races can become repetitive, especially if you are trying to level up your character. The more races you do the more likely the chance that you will repeat a race or two. Your leveling is dependent on fan followers, kind of like Twitter, which makes it hard at some points because you need to impress the people. You need to do amazing and dangerous tricks and do well in your races. If you don’t do well or you wreck out or things like that then you won’t gain as many followers.
This game is now available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC through Uplay. It is priced at 59.99 USD and in my opinion, it is worth every penny of it. You guys can watch some trailers, or watch people playing on Twitch to make up your minds of course. Have fun either way!
